Family Technology Support


1. Device Care

- Exercise reasonable care when using the Chromebook.
2. Customization

- Do not customize the chromebook by adding stickers, markers, or paint. Damage caused by customizations may result in fees.
3. Fees

- Fees may be charged due to damages from misuse/negligence, loss of device, or if the device is not returned after the loan period.
4. Maintenance

- No maintenance shall be performed by a third party contractor.
5. Loan

- The borrower agrees the computer is on loan, and belongs to the HUSD. The computer is not to be assigned, sold, transferred, or disposed off during the loan period.
6. Settings

- The device settings are not to be changed or altered. Do not add or remove software, this includes circumventing any device restriction.
7. Return

- The HUSD reserves the right to request the computer be returned for any reason deemed necessary.
Stolen Device Policy (Outside School)

- Family submits a 'detailed' police report to the school principal;
- A new device will be re-issued at no charge;
- Until a report is received the student will receive a loaner device, that will be returned to the school daily.
Lost Device Policy

- Teacher/Student must submit a written report to the school principal.
- Student will check out a loaner, and return daily;
- If the device cannot be tracked, the family is responsible for paying a replacement fee.
Damaged Device Policy
The District shall be responsible for repairing or replacing a device due to normal "wear and tear". If it is determined that a device is damaged due to negligence or intentional vandalism, the student/family will be responsible for covering the repair/replacement of the device.

- Minimal Damage (cracked screen, keyboard missing keys) = $50/per incident
- Major Damage (broken body, screen removed) = $150
In cases where financial hardship has been determined HUSD will work with families to find a payment/reimbursement solution.
Students may be able to complete community service as a means of payment.
